About this race

The North Shore Marathon starts at Gould Reserve on Takapuna Beach and is run as two laps of a 21.1 km coastal circuit on Auckland's North Shore. Each lap runs along the coast between Milford in the north and Cheltenham Beach in the south, passing Takapuna Beach on the way. It then loops up and around Maungauika / North Head Historic Reserve with views of Rangitoto Island, the Hauraki Gulf and Auckland city, before returning to the start area. The surface is a mix of road, beach and grass trail. The profile is rolling with several short climbs and descents on each lap. The event is organised by North Shore Marathon Limited and also includes a one-lap half marathon, a quarter marathon, a 5k and a kids' mile.
