About this race
The ASICS Christchurch Marathon is a flat, fast road marathon through the centre of Christchurch, run as four laps of a central-city circuit with the start and finish in North Hagley Park on Park Terrace. Each lap combines running around Hagley Park, including Harper Avenue, with a loop through the inner-city streets to the east, including Gloucester Street, and a loop beside the Avon River near the City to Sea Pathway. The route is almost entirely paved, with only a small section of dirt, and the profile is flat throughout. The course has been updated for 2027 while keeping the four-lap format. After the final lap runners leave the circuit and finish within Hagley Park. The setting combines the greenery of Hagley Park with city centre streets and riverside paths.
