About this race
The Manawatu Striders Marathon starts and finishes at the Massey University Recreation Centre in Palmerston North, with access from Albany Drive. The route leaves the campus via Dairy Farm Road and heads south-west to Linton before returning to the He Ara Kotahi pedestrian bridge over the Manawatu River. From there it follows the Riverside walkway downstream to Paneiri Park, then turns back upstream, passing under the river bridges, to a turnaround at Te Matai Road. Runners then return along the Riverside walkway and cross the Fitzherbert Bridge to finish back at Massey. The course combines sealed roads and paths with unsealed sections along the river and is flat, with only a few short rises. The marathon run starts at 8:00am, with the walkers' marathon setting off at 7:00am.
