About this race
The Runaway Hawke's Bay Half Marathon starts on Marine Parade in Napier, near 350–390 Marine Parade, and finishes at Elephant Hill Estate & Winery near Te Awanga. Runners head south along the Norfolk pine-lined Marine Parade before joining the coastal bike path towards Waitangi Regional Park. The course continues south towards the Clive River and along the oceanfront to the mouth of the Tukituki River, then follows the east side of the river towards Haumoana. The final stretch runs south along Beach Road and Clifton Road, with views out to Cape Kidnappers, to the winery finish. The surface is about half hard-packed limestone on the Hawke's Bay Trails and half sealed road and path, and the course is flat with easy running and no significant elevation change. The half marathon starts at 8:00am.
