About this race
The Manawatu Striders 10k starts and finishes at the Massey University Recreation Centre in Palmerston North, with access from Albany Drive. The route heads out along Dairy Farm Road towards the He Ara Kotahi pathway, with a short out-and-back section towards Linton on the way. Runners then cross the He Ara Kotahi pedestrian bridge over the Manawatu River and join the Riverside walkway, following it upstream to the Fitzherbert Bridge. After crossing the bridge, the course returns to finish at Massey. Around three quarters of the route is on sealed roads and paths, with the remainder on unsealed track, and the profile is flat with a couple of short rises at either end. The 10k starts at 10:00am and takes place on the same morning as the marathon, half marathon, 5k and kids' Marafun.
