About this race
The Runaway Hawke's Bay 10k is run on the Hawke's Bay coast, south of Napier, and finishes at Elephant Hill Estate & Winery near Te Awanga, the finish line for all distances. The route starts near Clive and heads south along the coast on the Hawke's Bay Trails, passing close to the Tukituki River mouth before running through Haumoana to the finish. The surface is mostly hard-packed limestone trail with some sealed road and path, and the course is flat, with easy running and only a couple of short rises. The 10k is the first race to start on the day, at 7:30am, ahead of the half marathon at 8:00am and the marathon at 8:20am. The event is organised by IRONMAN New Zealand and also includes a kids' run.
