About this race
The Wellington Marathon starts and finishes at Hnry Stadium on the Wellington waterfront. From the stadium, runners head south along Waterloo Quay past the Railway Station, then follow the harbour edge through the central city past the Michael Fowler Centre, Te Papa and Queens Wharf to Oriental Parade. The course continues around the harbour bays along Evans Bay Parade and Cobham Drive towards the Miramar Peninsula, where it turns and retraces the route back into the city. The marathon is two laps of this half marathon loop, with the finish on the Fran Wilde Walkway beside the stadium. The course is certified, almost entirely paved, and flat and fast, with only minor rises and falls along the harbour edge. Sea views across Wellington Harbour accompany much of the route.
