About this race
The NZCT Half Marathon is a point-to-point race along the shore of Lake Rotorua, starting at Hamurana Springs on the northern side of the lake and finishing at the lakefront in Rotorua. The course follows the second half of the marathon route and is new for 2027. From Hamurana Springs, runners follow the roads along the western side of the lake south through Ngongotahā, passing Kawaha Point and the suburbs of Western Heights and Fairy Springs, before reaching the city lakefront. The surface is mostly paved with some short stretches of dirt path. The profile is largely flat beside the water, with one notable climb early in the race, around the third kilometre, and a few short rises after it, before a flat run into the finish. Views over Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island are a feature of the course.
