About this race

The Kāpiti Half Marathon starts and finishes at MacLean Park on Paraparaumu Beach, on New Zealand's Kāpiti Coast. Marketed as a flat and fast course, the route winds through a mix of river trails, lake loops and boardwalks rather than following open roads, staying close to the coastline with views out across the water to Kāpiti Island for much of the way. The terrain is largely flat and even underfoot, suitable for buggies, wheelchair athletes and walkers as well as runners, with timing mats placed at regular intervals to track splits along the course. Runners set off slightly ahead of walkers in the half marathon field, with the shorter 10k, 5k and kids' distances starting separately later in the morning. The race finishes back at the beachside park, giving competitors a scenic, flat test suited to both first-time half marathoners and those chasing a personal best.
