Nelson Half Marathon

The Nelson Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Suburbs Football Pavilion, Saxton Field, near Stoke in Nelson. Around 90 percent of the course runs on dedicated walkway paths rather than open roads, following the walkway systems around Stoke and joining sections of the Great Taste Trail, with sweeping views across the Waimea Inlet and estuary throughout. The course is flat and scenic, run mostly on sealed shared paths rather than tarmac roads, making it a fast and approachable route for both competitive runners and walkers, with a run or walk option offered for the full distance. The event is organised by Athletics Nelson as part of a wider festival of running that also includes 10km, 5km and 2.5km distances starting and finishing at the same Saxton Field base, drawing entrants from across the top of the South Island each spring.
