12K Scenic Flight Fun Run

The 12K Scenic Flight Fun Run starts and finishes at the Upper Picnic area in the Tunnel Gully recreation area near Upper Hutt, as part of the WAI2K trail running festival. From the start, the course heads along Station Drive and through the SH2 underpass before looping out onto Goat Rock Track, picking up the Bee Line mountain bike trail and emerging at Goat Rock itself. Runners then descend Taniwha trail before climbing back up via the 250 East track and returning along Station Drive to the finish. The route mixes forestry roads, mountain bike trail and technical single-track, with creek crossings and short scrambles adding to the challenge, on a course organisers describe as undulating with several notable climbs. For 2026, the return leg has been adjusted onto the lower mountain bike trails due to forestry work nearby, trimming some of the climbing while keeping the distance the same.
