About this race

The Canterbury Half Marathon is held in Pegasus Town, north of Christchurch, with the event based on Pegasus Main Street. The course is a fast, flat loop around the lake, using walkways and park-like paths past residential homes and gardens. The half marathon is run as three laps of a circuit of roughly 7 km around the lake. Each lap heads north from the start to the northern end of the loop, then runs east and south down the eastern side, west along the southern edge and back north along the western side towards the start. Surfaces are a mix of paved paths and footpaths, and the profile is flat, with only a slight rise along the western side of each lap. Water views accompany much of each lap, and run, walk and hybrid run-walk options are offered.
