Nelson 10k

The Nelson 10km starts and finishes at the Suburbs Football Pavilion, Saxton Field, near Stoke in Nelson. Around 90 percent of the course runs on dedicated walkway paths rather than open roads, following the walkway systems around Stoke and joining sections of the Great Taste Trail, with sweeping views across the Waimea Inlet and estuary throughout. The course is flat and scenic, run mostly on sealed shared paths rather than tarmac roads, making it accessible to both runners and walkers. As the second-longest distance in the festival, the 10km offers a shorter alternative to the Half Marathon over the same style of course. The event is organised by Athletics Nelson as part of a wider festival of running that also includes Half Marathon, 5km and 2.5km distances starting and finishing at the same Saxton Field base each spring.
