Queenstown Marathon

The New Zealand Sotheby's International Realty Queenstown Marathon presented by ASICS starts at Millbrook Resort near Arrowtown and finishes at the Queenstown Memorial Centre Recreation Ground. The point-to-point route heads through Arrowtown before passing Lake Hayes, crossing the Shotover River and following trails alongside the Kawarau River towards Frankton. From there it skirts the shores of Lake Wakatipu before finishing through Queenstown Gardens into central Queenstown. The course is around 70 percent hard-packed trail and 30 percent sealed road, and is largely flat with a mainly net-downhill profile, though a few rolling sections appear along the way. Runners are treated to constant views of the Crown Range and The Remarkables throughout. Set against Central Otago's alpine scenery, it is widely promoted as one of the most scenic marathon courses in the world and is AIMS-certified as a Boston Marathon qualifying course.
