About this race
The Molesworth Run is an 84 km point-to-point ultra through Molesworth Station, New Zealand's largest high country station, from Molesworth Cob Cottage on Awatere Valley Road to Chisholm Reserve in Hanmer Springs. The first leg climbs to Ward Pass before descending into Isolated Flat. The route then climbs to Isolated Saddle and passes Red Gate and the Severn and Yarra River bridges, reaching the marathon mark at 42 km. It follows the Acheron River to the historic Acheron Accommodation House, then follows the Clarence River over Jacks Pass and down into Hanmer Springs. The course is on remote unsealed high country roads and tracks, mixing climbs with long gradual descents. There are no food or water stations on course, so runners must carry their own water and support. Solo runners have a 10-hour limit, and teams of two and four can also enter.
