25K Quad Extender Fun Run

The 25K Quad Extender Fun Run starts and finishes at the Upper Picnic area in the Tunnel Gully recreation area at Mt Climie near Upper Hutt, as part of the WAI2K trail festival. Runners head along Station Drive and through the SH2 underpass onto forestry trails, taking the Bee Line mountain bike trail to Goat Rock before descending on Taniwha trail and climbing 250 East. The course then passes through the Mangaroa tunnel, where a headlight is required, loops Pondys and climbs a steep firebreak track before an out and back ascent of Mt Climie and the descent to the finish. Organisers note it measures 25km, or 26km if the full course along the tops of Climie is used, and may be shorter if weather on the exposed tops is rough. For 2026 the return uses lower mountain bike trails because of forestry work.
