Merrell Race Tekapo 5k

The Merrell Race Tekapo 5k starts and finishes on the Village Green in Lake Tekapo, the grass area between the shops and the lake. The course heads towards the lake and joins a wide gravel path before crossing the footbridge and turning onto a sealed footpath to the Church of the Good Shepherd. It then follows the path network to the highway and continues past the dog park carpark entrance to Lilybank Road, running the grass verge track, before turning into the Campervan Association campground and heading through it towards the lake. Runners then turn onto the lakeside path and follow it back the way they came to the finish. The surface is mostly hard-packed gravel and lakeside paths, with a sealed footpath and a grass verge section. The course is essentially flat, with views of the lake for most of the route, and walkers are welcome.
