About this race
The Rotorua Off Road 5k, officially 5.5km, is a shorter loop in Whakarewarewa Forest that starts and finishes at the Waipa Sawmill Recreation area next to the Waipa MTB carpark. The route winds through the forest trails around Waipa, taking in the mud pools, the Pig Track and Red Tank Road, before returning to the finish. It is run on soft forest floor and packed dirt, using singletrack and forest roads with some gentle stream crossings. The profile is rolling, with a single main climb through the middle of the course followed by a long descent to the finish. The 5k starts at 11:15am, after the 10k, and walkers are welcome. There is one aid station, located at the finish. The event is organised by Event Promotions in association with Lake City Athletic Club.
